Your Ultimate Family Adventure Checklist

Joining us for a Family Adventure at Condover Hall? Our Family Adventures at our activity centre in Shropshire are designed to bring families together through unforgettable activities – from archery and abseiling to kayaking and raft building.

Whether you’re climbing high ropes or navigating muddy trails, a little preparation goes a long way in ensuring your break is stress-free and packed with smiles.

To help you get ready, we’ve created a Family Adventure checklist covering everything your family will need – from clothing and toiletries to a few helpful extras.

What to Expect

At Condover Hall Activity Centre, we provide all the specialist equipment needed for your activities – so no need to bring harnesses, helmets or paddles! Rest assured, all our gear meets British or European safety standards, is checked daily, and is backed by thorough risk assessments for every activity.

However, some activities do have specific clothing requirements for comfort and safety, so we recommend packing with these in mind. You’ll find more on that below.

Family Adventure Packing Checklist

Clothing

  • Nightwear – Warm and comfortable for cool evenings.
  • Underwear – One for each day, plus a few extras.
  • Socks – Pack spares! Wet feet are no fun.
  • Trousers – Lightweight, comfy, and not jeans. Jeans are unsuitable for activities as they restrict movement and don’t dry quickly.
  • Shorts – Knee-length or longer, especially for high ropes and abseiling.
  • T-shirts – Easy for layering.
  • Long-sleeved top – Required for archery and useful in cooler weather.
  • Jumpers/fleeces – Bring at least one warm layer.
  • Waterproof jacket – Essential in any season.
  • Waterproof trousers or older trousers that can get muddy – Ideal for activities like the Sensory Trail.
  • Disco clothes – Something fun but casual for evening entertainment. Dads – it’s time to bring out the flares and floral shirts!
  • Towels – Two per person: one for showering, one for water activities.
  • Swimwear – Needed for watersports and pool sessions.
  • Trainers or sturdy footwear – Bring one pair for activities and another pair that can get muddy or wet.
  • Jogging bottoms or long trousers – Needed for fencing and tunnelling.
  • Shoulder-covering tops – Required for high ropes, climbing, and zip wire.
  • Hair ties – Long hair must be tied back for several activities.

Toiletries

  • Toothbrush & toothpaste
  • Sponge or facecloth (or keep on your muddy war paint!)
  • Shower gel/soap
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Sun cream – Even in the UK, sun protection is important!

Extras

  • Sunglasses – For sunny days on the water.
  • Water bottle – Essential for staying hydrated.
  • Hat or cap and gloves – For warmth or sun protection.
  • Torch – Handy for evening adventures around the centre.

Activity-Specific Clothing Requirements

Some of our activities require particular types of clothing to keep everyone safe and comfortable:

  • Abseiling, Climbing, Aerial Trek, High Ropes & Zip Wire: Shoulders must be covered and shorts should be knee-length at minimum.
  • Archery: Long sleeves required.
  • Fencing: Long trousers or jogging bottoms are a must.
  • Sensory Trail: Clothes and footwear that can get properly muddy.
  • Tunnelling: Knees must be covered – joggers are ideal.
  • Watersports & Pool Activities: Don’t forget your swimwear and towel!

5 Quick Tips from the Condover Hall Team

  • Label everything – Especially children’s clothes and shoes. It’s easy for things to get mixed up.
  • No jeans for activities – They’re not comfortable and dry too slowly.
  • Expect mess and mud – It’s all part of the fun! Bring older clothes for peace of mind.
  • No laundry on site – You’re on an adventure! Make sure to pack enough for the whole stay.
  • Leave electronics at home – We encourage families to unplug and fully enjoy the outdoors together.

At JCA, safety and fun go hand in hand. By packing the right gear and preparing with our checklist, you can focus on what really matters – sharing new adventures, making lifelong memories, and spending quality time together.

We look forward to welcoming you to Condover Hall soon. Happy packing – and get ready for an unforgettable Family Adventure!
