Fencing demands concentration, discipline and agility, and children will be encouraged to develop these skills in this session. Participants learn the basics of the sport in a safe and constructive atmosphere.

Children will learn skills such as the ‘On Guard’ stance, moving backwards and forwards, lunging, parrying and riposte. Working in pairs using full safety equipment, children will develop their skills in foil fencing by competing in short bouts. Once confident with the fundamentals, the group will be split into teams to form a mini-league.

Full safety equipment of face mask, padded jacket, gauntlet and protective tipped foils are provided. Participants will be required to wear full-length trousers for this activity.
