Often one of our most popular and exciting activities, JCA’s centres all boast a purpose-built abseiling tower within the grounds. After learning about the required safety gear, harnessing it correctly and being thoroughly checked by JCA staff, children are coached by a qualified instructor from the tower’s nest and learn to control their descent as they abseil to base.

This activity sees young participants develop trust in others, confidence in their own abilities and overcome fears. As they improve, children will be able to try out more advanced abseiling techniques such as the ‘commando jump’ style and take part in games during their descent.

Each child will go through harness and helmet safety checks prior to approaching the tower and all sessions are run by fully trained instructors.
