Outdoor Learning

Schools play a central role in providing young people with the opportunity to experience outdoor education. According to Ofsted “Outdoor education gives depth to the curriculum and makes an important contribution to students’ physical, personal and social education.”

Our courses focus on engaging and enjoyable learning, and cover areas of the National Curriculum that are often the most difficult to deliver in the school environment.

We believe that by working together we can provide many opportunities for children and young people to experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of their learning and development. We recognise that quality learning experiences in ‘real’ situations can raise achievement across a range of subjects and develop personal and social skills.

Our courses promote citizenship, personal, social and health education by:
• Increasing self esteem
• Promoting team work
• Developing positive attitudes towards others
• Providing the opportunity for different kinds of responsibility
• Offering encouragement when facing new challenges
• Assisting adaptation to new situations and environments
• Developing effective communication skills
• Promoting a healthy lifestyle

The importance of outdoor education is now being recognised more than ever, with recent government initiatives such as “Every Child Matters” and the “Learning Outside the Classroom” Manifesto. We are delighted to be a signatory to the manifesto and are dedicated to its vision.
