Below is a list of frequently asked questions. If you have a query that isn't listed here, or would like more information on any of the topics mentioned,  please call us on 02392 222870.

Why is a Residential Course so important to my school?

In addition to covering several key aspects of the National Curriculum, a visit to a JCA centre provides your group with a brand new learning environment to build confidence and develop independence. Your group will experience challenging and exciting adventures in a safe and secure setting that will encourage team building and most of all, FUN! This is widely recognised and supported by all the leading political parties and is demonstrated through recent investment. “School trips are an integral part of school life… Teachers and pupils gain immensely from such trips, not only do they have a high educational content, but they allow teachers and pupils to get to know each other better in a different environment from the classroom....” National Union of Teachers.

How do you compare to your competitors?

We have the unique policy of one dedicated instructor per group for the duration of their stay. This enables the instructors to get to know the strengths, weaknesses and personalities of each child and helps to fulfill individuals’ potential. We are confident that our prices are the most competitive, our packages are inclusive of full holiday insurance and we always offer 1:8 free places for accompanying adults.

What happens in the evenings?

Our team of instructors will ensure that every evening is packed with fun activities to make every day a memorable one and to send the children to bed with that wonderfully contented feeling of tiredness and happiness combined! A duty instructor will then be on call throughout the night.

I am unable to book anything yet as I don’t know exact child numbers?

You are able to secure your preferred centre and dates with a nominal Holding Deposit of only £20 per person (+VAT). We will then hold your booking until the end of September, by which time you’ll be able to send in your First Deposits to confirm the final numbers. Reduction in numbers after holding deposits have been paid & before first deposits are due, will be credited to your booking (a reduction of 20% and below will not incur any cancellation charges).

We have always travelled with another company and would like to change but I am not sure I can cope with all the paperwork?

We make it easy! We can send you our Safety Management Policy and risk assessments and will even complete your EV form for you. It is likely that we are already approved by your LEA as we have been taking schools from their area for years. We encourage Party Leaders who are not familiar with the JCA experience to join us on our Inspection Visit events to meet the team and other teachers. These events provide you with the ideal opportunity to view the centre and surroundings and ask our staff any questions.

We would like to visit local attractions during our stay, is this possible?

Yes! Our Activity and Education course is available at all of our centres and offers groups the opportunity to visit some of the wonderful local attractions. We will be happy to organise a full or part programme for your group.

What if I have children with specific needs?

Should you have any children in your party who have specific needs or conditions please ensure that the enclosed medical and dietary forms are filled in.  At JCA we are keen that no child should miss out on a trip with us, most activities can be adapted to suit the needs of the child.

What happens with Insurance?

Full holiday insurance is included in the price.  If any children cancel for an insurable reason please notify us in writing of their name and we will forward you the appropriate documentation.  You will need to contact the insurance company’s claims department on 01623 631331.  If your children have any pre existing conditions you will need to notify the insurance company on receiving the insurance policy from us.

Can I make any last minute changes?

If you have any last minute changes or additions to your group please let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate them.

What happens in an emergency?

There will be a member of our on site staff on 24hour duty during your stay.  Likewise a member of our head office staff will also be on hand to assist.  The emergency contact number is 02392 222870.  If the call is outside of office hours there will be an answer machine that which will give you a Duty Mobile number to call.

What communication can our students have with home and what personal belongings can they bring?

The communication that children have with those at home is entirely up to your discretion during the trip.  We would suggest that children do not bring expensive items with them, this again is down to your discretion.

When do I find out my rooming and activity programme?

Rooming information and activity programmes are sent out approx 2 weeks before departure.  Prior to room allocation and activity programming we will ask you for any preferences you may have.
