The JCA netball season is in full swing at the moment with junior teams taking to the netball courts of Condover Hall for a jam-packed weekend of netball and activities. Elsewhere the action is equally flowing as the Vitality Netball Superleague has seen a revamp with three new teams.

The new team have fared well against the league’s seasonnaires with Wasps Netball generating a huge fan base. Each round has seen every team in with a chance of winning with fixtures hotly contested.

A standout team for the season, the Loughborough Lightning top the table with a solitary loss to their name. A run of 11 wins had previously cemented their place at the top of the table until Wasps decided to rain their parade. A 6-point gap has opened up between third and fourth place as Manchester Thunder look to close the gap on Wasps in second with an away trip to the Severn Stars.

Celtic Dragons and Team Northumbria have been great examples of a ‘never say die’ attitude. Propping up the table, the two teams have fought out tough wins showing encouraging signs as they enter the tail end of the rounds. Notable mention must also go out to these teams who have placed an emphasis on community involvement. Encouraging the next generation of netball stars, players from teams across the league have entered schools and clubs to run workshops and events. As role models for an audience on and off the court, the stars of the Vitality netball Superleague have started to pave the way for young netballers, proving that the pursuit of participation and achievement brings its own rewards.
