Acton Scott Historic Working Farm 

This farm near Church Stretton shows what life was like on a Shropshire farm at the turn of the century.

 

The Wrekin

The Wrekin is a hill rich in folklore. Probably Shropshire’s best known landmark, it is said that from the top you can see fifteen counties. It was also the inspiration for Tolkien's Middle Earth in The Lord of The Rings.

 

The Quarry Park

A 29 acre park set in Shrewsbury.

 

History and culture

The Bog Centre

This is one of the last remaining buildings from Bog Village, which was demolished in 1972. This old school house now acts as an information centre, providing details of the areas mining history, people and the efforts to restore the surrounding landscape.

 

Gleanings

A rural study centre in Minsterley teaching traditional activities such as folk music, bird watching, wild flower studies, art, smallholding, farming and country crafts. 

 

Ironbridge Gorge Museum

World Heritage site near Telford that is packed with attractions including a China museum, the world’s first cast iron bridge, a Victorian town and interactive fun where you can pull a real locomotive and generate electricity from flowing water.

 

Ludlow Castle

Medieval castle ruins in the Shropshire countryside.

 

Mitchell’s Fold Stone Circle

Prehistoric Bronze Age stone circle at Chirbury near Bishop’s Castle. The site is 85 feet in diameter and originally consisted of around 30 stones, 15 of which are still visible.

 

Much Wenlock Priory

Fascinating ruins of a 12th century church at Much Wenlock.

A grass-roofed learning centre at Craven Arms that focusses on the historical, archaeological and cultural significance of the area.

Stokesay Castle, near Craven Arms, is one of the best-preserved 13th century manor houses in England.

 

Wroxeter Roman City

Wroxeter Roman City, or Viroconium, is thought to have been one of the largest Roman cities in the UK with over 200 acres of land, two miles of walls and a population of around 5,000.
